The U.S. wants debt relief for Haiti

A Treasury official said Tuesday that Mr. Geithner had raised the issue of debt relief to Haitian G7. By their representation in these organizations, the United States have a strong influence in the IMF, the World Bank and the Interamerican Development Bank, which hold most of the Haitian debt (some 900 million dollars).
